Who is leading the way in open architecture (OA) developments? Why has progress been so patchy? Professor Michael Henshaw has some interesting perspective on these questions. He is Professor of Systems Engineering at Loughborough University and leader of the Engineering Systems of Systems (EsoS) Research Group. In this interview segment, he speaks with Defence IQ's Robert Densmore about how large procurement is often driven by the lowest competitive price, leading to cost overruns and planning complications. Professor Henshaw believes an OA approach to systems will produce significant cost savings as well as cross-service interoperability. View the full interview to find out more.
