In the first ever extended overseas deployment of a littoral combat ship (LCS), the U.S. Navy’s LCS Freedom has sprung a leak in the latest of numerous incidents since leaving San Diego in March. A "half-inch rupture" was discovered in the seawater service system pipe, leading to flooding in the bilge of up to three feet. The ship will remain in port in Singapore while it undergoes repairs.
