Former Director of Naval Engineering Brazilian Navy

Vice Admiral (Rtd) FRANCISCO DEIANA was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1956. Following graduation from the Brazilian Navy (BN) Academy with class of 1977, he completed his naval architecture and engineering education at University of São Paulo. During his career, he worked a long time in the fields of ship and submarine design. As Captain, served at Arsenal de Marinha do Rio de Janeiro ─ BN’s main shipyard for maintenance, repair and shipbuilding ─, where he was the Vice-Director for four years. Between 2003 and 2005, was the Director of BN’s Centre of Missiles and Submarine Weapons. Promoted to Rear Admiral in March 2008 and to Vice Admiral in March 2013, he headed the BN’s Directorate of Naval Engineering from April 2008 to April 2016, being responsible for the procurement of several important naval assets for the BN, including medium size and large OPVs. In April 2016, after serving the BN for more than 44 years, he retired. He’s currently the Technical Director of the Brazilian federal public enterprise “AMAZUL – Amazônia Azul Tecnologias de Defesa S.A.”
