Vice Admiral (Rtd) EDESIO TEIXEIRA LIMA JUNIOR was born in Pará, Brazil, in 1954. Following graduation from the Brazilian Navy Academy with class of 1977, he completed the courses of Command and General Staff, Superior Warfare Naval and PhD in Maritime Policy and Strategy, all of them at Naval War College. He also completed the Continuing Education in Systems Analysis at PUC-RJ, Graduation in Business Administration at CEUB, Master in Business Economics at Candido Mendes University and the Corporate Finance at London Business School, London, UK. During his career, he worked a long time in the fields related with finance and logistics. As Commander, served at Brazilian Naval Commission in Europe and as Captain headed the Navy Supply Base in Rio de Janeiro, Payroll of Navy Personnel and was the Chief of Staff of General Secretariat of the Navy. Promoted to Rear Admiral in 2005, he headed the Navy Finance Directorate. In November 2011, he was promoted to Vice Admiral and assumed the Navy Supply Directorate. In April 2013, after serving the Brazilian Navy for more than 43 years, he retired. From 2013 to 2017 he was the Special Adviser to the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces. He also assumed as a Director the Support Center for Defense Logistics Systems from 2017 to 2018. He’s currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Brazilian federal public enterprise “EMGEPRON – Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais.”
