Test Pilot-Trainer Aircraft Leonardo

Giacomo “Jack” Iannelli was born in Montevarchi, Arezzo on 12 June 1975. He joined Italian Air Force in October 1996. After completing his master’s degree in Political Science at the ITAF Academy, he graduated as a Military Pilot from ENJJPT, Sheppard AFB, Texas in 2002. He was then assigned to the 9th Sq of the 4th Fighter Wing in Grosseto AB, flying the F-104 ASA-M and then to the 10th Sq of the 37th Fighter Wing in Trapani, flying the F-16A-ADF. Giacomo was selected as Test Pilot in training by the ITAF Flight Test Center in 2007 and graduated at Patuxent River U.S. Naval Test Pilot School as an Engineering Test Pilot in 2008. During his work at ITAF Test Center, Giacomo served as a Eurofighter Typhoon and F-35 Project Pilot and participated in the initial evaluation of the M-346. Jack joined Leonardo in October 2013 as an Experimental Test Pilot and has flown over 4300 hours and approximately 100 types of aircraft over his career; he is a Member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilot and he’s now in charge of the development of M-345 High Efficiency Trainer and the M-346 Fighter Attack variant of the M-346 Advanced Jet Trainer.
