Vice Commander, 50th Space Wing Air Force Space Command

Col. Jacob Middleton is the vice commander, 50th Space Wing, Air Force Space Command, Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. The 50th Space Wing is comprised of more than 4,200 military, Department of Defense civilians, and contractor personnel serving at 14 operating locations worldwide, in support of 175 communications, navigation and surveillance satellites with associated systems valued at more than $66 billion.

Colonel Middleton enlisted in the Air Force in August 1992 and received his commission through the Officer Training School in November 1998. He has served in a variety of space and missile operations assignments, including tours in the 91st Space Wing, 50th Space Wing, and the National Reconnaissance Office. He is a graduate of the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies and was recently the chief speechwriter for the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Deputy Chief of the Air Force Senate Liaison Office.
