Rear Admiral (UH) Yankı Bağcıoğlu

Amphibious Task Group Commander Turkish Navy

Rear Admiral Yankı Bağcıoğlu is a native of İstanbul. He was graduated from the Turkish Naval Academy in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. His sea tours include Main Propulsion Assistant in TCG KASIRGA (PGFG), Communications Officer in TCG YÜCETEPE (DDG), and TCG AKDENİZ (FFGH); Operations Officer in TCG ZAFER (FFGH); Executive Officer in TCG GEMLİK (FFGH). Rear Admiral Bağcıoğlu assumed command of TCG GÖKOVA (FFGH) between 2007 and 2008, and he served as Commander of Destroyer Squadron 2 between 2012 and 2014.

Ashore, he served as Operations and Communications Instructor at Karamürselbey Training Center, National Exercises Planning Officer at Turkish Navy HQ; Exercises Staff Officer at SHAPE HQ in Mons, Belgium; Operations and Communications Branch Head at Aksaz Naval Base HQ; Operations Branch Head at Turkish Navy HQ. Rear Admiral Bağcıoğlu assumed command of Turkish Maritime Surveillance Command between 2015 and 2016. Rear Admiral Bağcıoğlu served as of Director of Operations at Turkish Navy HQ from July 2016 to August 2020, and Director of Intelligence from April 2019 to August 2020.

Rear Admiral Bağcıoğlu has assumed command of Turkish Amphibious Task Group since 1st September 2020. He holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Turkish Naval War College and Master of Arts in International Relations from University of Leuven in Belgium. Rear Admiral Bağcıoğlu is married to Navy Captain Pınar Bağcıoğlu and has two sons Kuzey and Boran.
