Major General Tracy W. King

Commander U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Europe & Africa

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, MajGen King was commissioned out of the University of Oklahoma. MajGen King has served in all three Marine Expeditionary Forces and with all four elements of the MAGTF. His tours of duty include the Mountain Warfare Training CenterBridgeport, California, MARFORRES in New Orleans Louisiana, Marine Corps University as the Director of SAW, Joint Duty with the Institute for Defense Analyses, and as the Chief of Staff, 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade.

In 2003, he was assigned to I MEF for Operation Iraqi Freedom. During that same year, he reported to II MEF and served as the Pacific & European Command Regional Plans Officer and as the Future Operations Officer for II MEF (Fwd). In 2005, he reported to 1st MAW for duty as the CG’s Staff Secretary and as Commanding Officer, MWSS-172. He later commanded CLR-15, I MEF and 3d Marine Logistics Group, III MEF. His last assignment was Deputy Director - Asia, Joint Chiefs of Staff, J5 (Strategy, Plans, and Policy).

He is currently assigned as Director, Expeditionary Warfare (OPNAV N95) where he provides oversight for the Chief of Naval Operations on those areas pertaining to amphibious shipping, mine warfare, naval fire support, and other missions essential to Expeditionary Warfare. MajGen King’s experiences include patrolling/base defense with Marine Barracks PI, Humanitarian Relief Operations in the Federated States of Micronesia, Urban Warrior, various planning billets during Operation Iraqi Freedom I-III-IV, compartmentalized planning with SOCOM, Service level planning to develop the Marines Corps’ SAPR Campaign Plan, and a Red Team Analysis on the Sept 13 attack on Bastion-Leatherneck.

MajGen King is a graduate of Summer/Winter Mountain Leaders, Amphibious Warfare School, Naval Command and Staff, the School of Advanced Warfighting, and the National War College. He holds an M.A. in Strategic Studies and an M.S. in National Policy. MajGen King is married to the former Ms. Ann Fenton, also from the great state of Oklahoma. They have two children, Chase, a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, and Sydney, an elementary school teacher.
