Lieutenant Colonel Joakim Kindahl

Deputy, Commander First Marine Regiment Royal Swedish Navy

Joakim Kindahl started his early career north of the arctic circle at the Lappland Ranger Regiment where he served in, and trained long range reconnaissance patrols in all aspects of artic warfare. As of captain he went on to serve with the Coastal Ranger Company of the 1st Marine Regiment during which he also conducted an operational tour in Kosovo as Officer in charge of the Swedish contribution to the Nordic common national intelligence cell in Pristina. Upon his return Joakim was placed at the Swedish Naval Warfare Centre, amphibious department, responsible for the officer- and specialist training in small arms tactics as well as development of marine- and navy ground fighting abilities. He finished SNWC with an operational tour in Afghanistan with the Swedish PRT, Mazar-e-Sharif. After finishing his M.Sc.in War studies at the Swedish National Defense Collage he was promoted LtCol to the Swedish Security and Intelligence Directorate, a placing which included several operational postings and service with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. Since 2019 Joakim is back to the 1st Marine Regiment as 2iC to Colonel Patrik Gardesten. He lives outside Stockholm with his wife Caroline and two children.
