His academic qualifications include: M.Phil,(Public Policy & Strategic Studies), MS Def & Strategic Studies (QAU), M S War Studies, Master of Military Studies (US), MBA (HRM), BSc (Hons) PN Staff Course, USMC Command & Staff Course National security war course (NSWC).

Commodore Syed Faisal Ali Shah is married with four sons.
