Commodore John Stavridis

Commodore John Stavridis joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1988 and qualified as s a Principal Warfare Officer in Surface Warfare and Communications. At sea Commodore Stavridis has served in a number of ships including command of the frigates HMAS Arunta and HMAS Anzac. In December 2016 Commodore Stavridis assumed command of Australia’s first Aegis destroyer HMAS Hobart. Ashore, Commodore Stavridis has served in a number of roles including training force, capability development, and more recently command of the training establishment, HMAS Watson. Commodore Stavridis has been awarded a Commendation for Distinguished Service for his performance as Commanding Officer of HMAS Anzac and a Conspicuous Service Cross for his leadership in command of HMAS Hobart. Commodore Stavridis is a graduate of the Singapore Command and Staff College (2007) and the United States Naval War College (2014). He holds Masters degrees in Science, Commerce, Business Administration and is a qualified CPA.
