Operation Officer for the Fleet Marine Force Brazilian Marine Corps

Captain Luís Felippe Valentini da Silva is the Operation officer for the Fleet Marine Force at the Brazilian Marine Corps, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Captain Valentini was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He graduated from the Brazilian Navy Academy as a Marine Officer in 1994. His military education includes Marine Corps War College, Quantico Virginia (2019-2020), the Command and Staff Course and the Junior Staff Officer Course at Brazilian Naval War College, the Expeditionary Warfare School at the Brazilian Marine Corps Instruction Center, the Infantry Captains Career Course and the Basic Mountaineering course at the Brazilian Army. He also holds a Bachelors of Accounting degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and has a Post-graduate degree in Business Management COPPEAD from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Captain Valentini has served in various positions in the Brazilian Navy which includes: platoon and company commander, operation and executive officer of 3rd Infantry Battalion; instructor of the Brazilian Marine Corps Instruction Center and the Naval Academy; and training advisor at Brazilian Marine Corps Doctrinal Command. In November 2016, he assumed command of the 3rd Infantry Battalion. Afterward, he led the training of the Brazilian Marine Central African Republic Task Force; a team prepared to operate as part of a high mobility unit of UN Forces in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). Due to political considerations, Brazil has postponed the deployment for MINUSCA, and Captain Valentini got a new assignment as the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Landing Troop; a Special Purpose Task Force gathered to accomplish the amphibious exercises of the Fleet Marine Force.

Captain Valentini’s deployment history includes Staff Officer, Joint Mission Analysis Center – UNMIL, Liberia; Chief of Staff, Brazilian Marine Task Force – MINUSTAH, Haiti; and, Liason Officer to Peruvian Infantry Navy Command - Comandancia de la Fuerza de Infantería, Ancon, Peru.

His military decorations include the Service Time Medal (30 years), Brazilian Navy Tamandaré Order Award, Brazilian Marine Corps Amphibious Award (Three stars), the United Nations Medal of Liberia (Number 2) and Haiti (Number 1), and the Peruvian Navy Infantry Award.

Captain Valentini is married to Denise Barros Fruitos Motta of Rio de Janeiro and has two daughters.
