Deputy Director Nuclear Infrastructure - Major Programmes & Projects UK Defence Infrastructure Organisation
Dan Ross

Currently serving as Deputy Director Nuclear Infrastructure, I lead Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) support and delivery to the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE). With over 16 years in public service, I bring a broad spectrum of experience across defence, environment, and government property leadership roles. My career began as an RAF airframe technician, keeping the Tornado GR4 airworthy and deployment-ready. Since then, I’ve held senior positions including Head of the Centre of Excellence at DIO, Estates Portfolio Lead at Dstl—where I delivered several strategic initiatives including the complex lease disposal of Fort Halstead—and Head of Property Projects at Defra, where I built and led project delivery capability. Earlier in my civil service journey, I spent seven years at the Environment Agency, where I led the incident response function and delivered large-scale flood defence and maintenance programmes. Before entering public service, I was Operations Manager for a mechanical and electrical engineering firm delivering technical services and installations across the UK for Scandinavian automation leaders Tomra.
