Jonathan Guthrie

Director of Operations Norwegian People’s Aid

Jonathon Guthrie served in the Australian Army for 12 years as Military Engineer. During serving, he gained extensive experience as a trainer, supervisor and manager of EOD operations including multiple operational tours. For the past 20 years, Jonathon has been working in Mine Action, the first four of which being in the commercial sector in Southeast Asia. Following this Jonathon has been working in Humanitarian Mine Action, employed in numerous roles and locations with Norwegian People’s Aid, from Country Director in Georgia, Vietnam and Iraq, Senior Technical Advisor to the Vietnam Mine Action Centre, to Global Director of Operations, a position he has held for the past three years. He has been involved in the IMAS review board, most recently chairing the Technical Working Group on developing competencies for Deminers, Team Leaders, Supervisors and Non-technical surveyors; instrumental in the development of the Cluster Munitions Remnants Survey (CMRS) and has been published in the Journal of Conventional Weapons Destruction.
