John Vehmeyer

Science and Technology Directorate U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Mr. Vehmeyer is the Portfolio Manager for the Science and Technology Directorate’s research, development, test and evaluation efforts with Customs and Border Protection. As a Portfolio Manager he is responsible for overseeing S&T’s Land and Air Security programs in support of CBP requirements.

Prior to his role as a Portfolio Manager, Mr. Vehmeyer served as an advisor to the Deputy Under Secretary for S&T. As an advisor, Mr. Vehmeyer led an intergovernmental working group composed of Federal, state and local partners to address the issue of malevolent use by unmanned aircraft systems within the National Capital Region.

Mr. Vehmeyer received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, in 2007.
