Lieutenant Commander Aston Talbot

New Zealand Assistant Defence Advisor to Singapore Royal NZ Navy

Lieutenant Commander Aston Talbot joined the Royal New Zealand Navy in 2005. He

specialised in navigation and served aboard various ships ranging from Frigates and

Destroyers, to Replenishment Tankers, HADR Relief Vessels and Multi-Agency Patrol

Boats. He has contributed to routine operations in the Pacific Ocean, South East and North

Asia and the Antarctic; as well as professional exchanges and deployments in Canada, the

United Kingdom and Egypt.

He holds a Bachelors of Commerce and Arts from the University of Otago and a Masters of

Arts with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland. He is now in the Naval

Reserve as a Maritime Trade Operations Officer. Prior to his current role in Singapore, he

worked in the private sector in New Zealand's maritime industry as an Operations Manager

for a towage and pilotage firm.
