Captain Wachiraporn Wongnakornsawang is Deputy Chief of Staff of the Naval Education Department in Royal Thai Navy. Previously, he was a Marine Engineering Officer of naval ships including a mine-hunter, frigates and a helicopter carrier. After his graduation from the Royal Thai Naval Command and Staff College with distinction, he was sent to study at the Royal Australian Naval Staff College in preparation for being a lecturer in the Naval Education Department. He is the first Thai person who graduated from the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College and his name was put in the college’s commandant list after graduation. He earned 2 Master Degrees in International Relations from Chulalongkorn University and in Defence Studies from the National University of Malaysia.
Because of his various academic articles on maritime security, he has been invited to give lectures related to such subjects in many places included the Fudan University, China and the Moscow Conference on International Security, Russia.
