Ivar Janson

Head of Procurement Department Estonian Centre for Defence Investment

Mr Ivar Janson is a Head of Procurement Department at Estonian Centre of Defence Investment (ECDI). The department has annual budget of over 400 MEUR and is responsible for assuring availability of all defence materials, from procurement to final delivery, for our main client – Estonian Defence Forces. The department is divided into six categories, each managed by Strategic Category Manager. As the previous occupation Ivar Janson was a Strategic Category Manager for Armoured Vehicles. His tasks included planning the investment budget, management the procurement projects, negotiating and management of the contracts, conducting market research and management of the supply base, technical specifications development and total cost of ownership. The area of responsibility includes all the armoured fleets of Estonian Defence Forces and the life cycle support of those vehicles: K9 SPH, CV9035 IFV, PASI APC, Leopard 1 support tanks. Ivar Janson has graduated Estonian Military Academy as an artillery officer and has served in different positions in Estonian Defence Forces, Estonian Defence League and in the Ministry of Defence. His assignments include duty as Fire Support Team (FST) Cmd in operation ISAF in 2011.
