Brigadier General Jarosław Górowski

Chief of Armoured Division - Deputy Army Inspector General Command of the Polish Armed Forces

BG Jarosław Górowski was born in 1973 in Bielsko-Biała. He graduated from the Land Forces (Army) Academy in Wrocław in 1997 and was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant. In 2005 he completed the National Defence College in Warsaw and in 2007 Postgraduate Studies on Operations and Tactics. Abroad he progressed Army Operation Course in Canadian Land Forces Commanding and Staff College (Kingston, 2010), Advanced Commanding and Staff Course in Joint Services Commanding and Staff College (Shrivenham, 2010) and National Security Program in Canadian Forces College (Toronto, 2019). After graduation he served on various command positions (platoon leader, coy commander) in 9 th Armoured Cavalry Brigade (Braniewo, 1997 – 2002). After finishing National Defence College he was assigned to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff of 17th Mechanized Brigade (Międzyrzecz, 2005 – 2010). During second rotation of Polish contingent in Afghanistan he was a battle group Chief of Staff and for his acts of valour awarded with U.S. Bronze Star Medal. After redeployment from Afghanistan he was assigned to the position of battalion commander in 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade (Świętoszów, 2010 – 2014). Meanwhile he was once again deployed to Afghanistan as a Task Force Alpha Commander during eight rotation of Polish “White Eagle” contingent. For this service BG Górowski was awarded by the Polish President with the Order of the Military Cross, 2 nd Class in 2013. In 2015 he was appointed Chief of Training in 34th Armoured Cavalry Brigade and after that Chief of General Command J-3 (OPS). In July 2019 he assumed the position of Chief of Staff in newly created 18th Mechanized Division (Siedlce). In March 2020 he was appointed Commander of 1st Armoured Brigade (Wesoła) and in August he was promoted Brigadier General. BG Górowski is currently assigned to General Command of the Polish Armed Forces (beginning 1 February 2022) where he is the Chief of Armoured Division - Deputy Army Inspector.
