Holland Class Site Visit
11:00 AM - 2:30 PM Holland Class Site Visit
Defence IQ and Damen Shipyards are delighted to invite our delegation to take the unique opportunity to tour one of the Royal Netherlands Navy’s Holland Class Patrol Vessels. Split into groups of 10, Damen Shipyards will guide us through the entirety of the vessel, giving you the chance to understand how every operational requirement was met during the design process. The tour of the Holland Class vessel provides a fantastic context for this year's conference, looking at how strategic decisions made at the requirement setting and procurement stages have a direct operational impact of the OPV.
Delegates will be able to understand how the Holland Class vessels have been designed for global use, and provide a great benchmark for future OPV designs to be compared against. They have the capability to carry out missions such as anti-piracy and blockade duties, and also can be used for emergency transport. They are constructed with heavier mild steel and armour, which results in a more robust ship of greater weight, than the previous M class frigates.
Included in the tour of the OPV will be the opportunity to not only explore the vessel, but to get out on the RHIB in the Port of Rotterdam. Lunch will be served on the helicopter deck, courtesy of Damen.
