Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Baldisserri attended the Military Academy in Modena from 1990, graduating as a signal officer in 1992, when he was promoted second lieutenant. During his military studies, he obtained a master’s degree in Computer Science in 1994.
During his assignment as a junior officer he served in the 32th Signal Regiment in Padova and in the C4ISTAR HQ in Anzio (Rome), where he was responsible for the Plans and Development section from 2005 to 2008.
Throughout this period he also served in operations abroad: in 1999 in SFOR Sarajevo (BiH); from 2000-2001 as a signal officer in TPH2, Hebron; in 2004 as SO2 J6 OPS/PLANS in MND SE BASRAN, IRAQ, where he contributed to implement “Blue Light Matrix”, an emergency radio network used by first responders; in 2006 he was INFOSEC Branch Head in MNB in Kabul (AFG).
After attending the War College, he moved to the United States for a NATO assignment as coordinator of various ACT Capability Packages, in ACT Norfolk (VA).
After 3 years of NATO duties, in 2011 he was assigned as a Battalion Commander in Bolzano, Italy. With his mountain troops signal battalion “Gardenia” he also deployed in Afghanistan (Herat) as Chief of the Joint Task Force C4, from 2013-2014.
Upon completion of his commanding duties in 2015, he was assigned as G6 chief of the Army Air Defence HQ in Sabaudia. From this duty position, in 2015 he cooperated with the NATO CIS Detachment for the establishment of the “Sagitta” mission in Turkey within the framework of the NATO Support to Turkey activity.
Thereafter, in 2016, he helped develop a Counter Unmanned Aerial System. The studies and objectives reached in the C-UAS field has been commended to Lt.Col. Baldisserri with his assignment as the Director of the C-UAS Centre of Excellence (C-UAS COE) that was established in late 2018 in Sabaudia, co-located with the Army AD HQ.
At the moment, he is the coordinator officer within the Center of Exellence.
Lt.Col. Baldisserri is married to Antonella. He has 3 children: Federico, Luca and Mattia.
