COL Rick Wright currently serves as the Deputy Director, Joint C-UAS Office (JCO) and Deputy Director, Fires in the G3/5/7, HQ Department of the Army. He recently served as the commander of the 35th ADA Brigade, Osan, AB, South Korea. COL Wright was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery in 1996 upon graduation from Officer Candidate School (OCS) as a Distinguished Military Graduate. He has commanded at the Battery, Battalion and Brigade level, and served in numerous staff assignments to include Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), United States European Command (USEUCOM), Human Resources Command (HRC), and Fort Sill/Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE).
COL Wright has had multiple deployments and overseas assignments during his military career. As a Platoon Leader he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Desert Thunder. As a Battery Commander,
COL Wright deployed his unit to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF I). As a Major, he deployed with the 31st ADA Brigade to Qatar, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). As a battalion commander, COL Wright deployed 4-3 ADA Battalion to Kuwait in support of OEF. He later served as Deputy Division Chief for Missile Defense, USEUCOM J5/8, Stuttgart Germany before taking command of the 35th ADA Brigade, in Osan AB, South Korea.
COL Wright’s professional military education includes the U.S. Army War College, Command and General Staff College, USMC Amphibious Warfare School, and the USAF Joint Aerospace Command & Control Course. He holds a Bachelors in Management from Upper Iowa University, and Masters’ degrees in Public Policy from Georgetown University, and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
COL Wright’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal for Valor, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. He has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, Aircraft Crewman Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold Award). COL Wright is married to the former Lisa Keller of Grove, OK. They have two sons, CW2 Cody Wright and SSG Bryan Wright, both serving on active duty with their families.
