Lieutenant General Ayyaz Salim Rana is the Chairman of Heavy Industries Taxila, a major component of Pakistan's Ministry of Defence Production. He talks through the intricate history of Pakistan's armour production: from whole scale foreign purchase in the 1950s and 60s from the UK and the US, to partial rebuilds from China and the Ukraine in the 1980s and 90s. Now Pakistan manufactures its own tank and APC, including the MBT-2000Al-Khalid. The key to 'indigenisation' is in the process - which he describes here.
