Australian Artillery Revamps its Combat Mission Through 'Digitisation'

Australia's Royal Artillery Regiments have a brand new mission: to modernise as quickly as is feasible in order to meet future threats. Lt Col Stuart Kenny of the Capability Implementation Team reveals some of the key components of this process. First on the list? Speed is of the essence, he tells Defence IQ. From the speed of responses between sensor and shooter, to the speed of communications that link joint assets. Next comes 'digitisation', which is another fundamental element in speeding up the overall process. New radios are on the list - HF, satellite communications, VHF and frequency hopping systems, not to mention critical new software and hardware solutions.
