Taiwan to upgrade 60 Indigenous Defence Fighters this year

Taiwan plans to upgrade 60 Indigenous Defence Fighters (IDFs) by the end of 2013, with the remaining 67 fighters set to be reequipped in 2017, according to a defence ministry report submitted to Parliament. The upgrades will prolong the service life of the fighters through to the 2030s. The programme will include upgrades to its radar and electronics capabilities, together with a cluster bomb.
