Cutting Edge Technologies in Joint Simulation and Training - Sector Report 2010

Cutting Edge Technologies in Joint Simulation and Training - Sector Report 2010

Within the UK, a number of systems exist that fulfil the British Army’s demanding
pre-deployment training requirements. Many of these requirements relate directly
to preparing ranking officers and non-commissioned officers (NCOs) in effective
leadership methodology. Included in the overarching structure of this training
programme are the Command & Staff Training System (CAST), consisting of a
Brigade and Battle Group Trainer (BBGT), and a Higher Formation Trainer (HFT).
There are 3 CAST centres in total: Warminster and Catterick are based in the UK
and Sennelager operates in Germany. There is also a Battlegroup Command &
Control Trainer (BC2T) designed to train unit commanders and their staff in a
combined-arms environment.
