Vehicle Survivability 2008
As Operational commitments in Afghanistan and Iraq continue, survivability has become increasingly high profile and one of the most critical elements of modern armoured vehicle design. Defence IQ’s inaugural Vehicle Survivability conference is an exclusive meeting designed to offer insight into the threats faced by armoured vehicles, new technologies designed to combat these threats and specific platform survivability programmes.
Some of the key issues to be discussed at Vehicle Survivability include:
- Platform Survivability: Briefings on the Challenger 2 and the Leopard 2 A6M will give a clear indication of what has been done to upgrade specific platforms for current and future operational requirements
- New Technologies:In-depth assessments of armour technology developments by Defence Research establishments including theTNO, FFI and DSTL. Technologies such as Net Armour and lightweight materials will be discussed
- Threat Range: Threat analysis from the UK MoD and European Defence Agency on vehicle survivability in the current strategic context and how should armed forces and specific platforms evolve to adapt to face these threats
Vehicle Survivability will feature briefing from:
- Colonel Andrew Cuthbert Assistant Director, Land Concepts, DCDC, UK MoD
- Lieutenant Colonel (GS) Peter Mutzek, G3 Development Branch, Training Centre Armoured Corps, Munster, German Armoured Crops
- Major Andrew Heywood, Requirements Manager, HAS IPT, DE&S, UK MoD
