National Security – A Changing Landscape

With the rise of globalisation and escalating cross-border terrorism, protecting and enhancing national security – population and assets – is increasingly occupying government’s agendas in the Middle East and North Africa.
The enlarged focus on national security is seeing budgets increase and the revision of national security strategies to better utilise new technologies and tackle emerging, more complex risks, including organised crime, increased trafficking, cyber terrorism and
militant extremism, including the threats emanating from unrest within the region.

According to the International Organisation of Security and Intelligence (IOSI), the organisations that are responsible for preventing and containing these threats, face numerous challenges as they attempt to protect their borders, not least the highly-organised nature and sophisticated manner that characterise threats in the modern world.

Threat is growing globally and helping to fund militant and terrorist activity.
