About this Podcast...
Lieutenant General Dick Appglegate, British Army, is the former Chief of Materiel (Land) at DE&S (UK Defence Equipment and Support organisation) and was a member of the Army Board, having served as Quartermaster General. He was also the NATO sector commander in Bosnia and the Deputy Commander of UK Forces for the entry operation into Kosovo. He has extensive experience of commanding in the field, having been in charge of some 3,000 troops in support of NATO operations. Dick Applegate now serves as Managing Director for Eagle Strategic Consulting. In this honest exchange, he reveals where he thinks the future of Royal Artillery will lie. Remaining a 'gunner' at heart, he shares some tremendous insights into the difficulties he faced in the field - and offers specific guidance on a realistic future for British artillery on the front lines, including lessons learned from recent hostilities in South Korea.
