The United States Army has now begun its roll out of improved M4A1 carbines for standard infantry, updating the original M4 model first introduced in 1994.
Changes to the M4 are minor but "greatly" increase capability in terms of accuracy and reliability. They include a heavy-profile barrel that has better heat absorption, dissipation properties and increased rigidity, while accuracy is enhanced by the presence of a standard full-auto fire control group.
