Which countries will invest the most in Military Flight Training in 2017? 

2017 is going to be one of the most important years ever for the military flight training community. Decisions are expected by the US Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force, Swedish Air Force, French Air Force, UK MoD and US Navy on their procurements for new jet trainers, rotary training solutions, aggressor contracts and advanced ground based training systems.

The military flight training community is on the cusp of a significant transformation. 2017 could quite simply define the future of flight training for years to come.  

With this in mind and in the wake of the official US Air Force T-X RFP issued last week, Defence IQ has released the 2017 Military Flight Training Market Report to provide in-depth insight on international inventories of fast-jet and helicopter trainers, key national requirements and an overview of the health of the global flight training market, with insight into those working in this field in both an operational and business capacity. 

The World’s Air Forces operate 7, 417 fixed-wing training aircraft, with a further 737 on order. These represent increases of 3.9% and 17.9% respectively, over 2014. 24.9% of the total fleet is in North America, with 25.1% in Asia-Pacific and 22.7% in Europe. Of those on order, 33.9% are in Asia-Pacific, with 26.7% in the Middle-East, 5.6% in North America, 16.1% in Europe and 15.7% in Latin America. Latin America has seen the largest growth rate, both in its training fleet (an increase of 10.8%) and numbers on order (increased by 65.7%) over the last year...
