Lockheed Martin said Monday that the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program enjoyed a good August, successfully completing several milestones, including its 400th flight and, on Aug. 13 at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., firing a missile. The F-35 has completed 19,500 hours of flight time. The defense contractor expects the Marines to attain F-35B operational capacity next year.
