The ASTOR-equipped Sentinel R.Mk.1 aircraft of the RAF’s 5 (AC) squadron are proving their worth as ISR Systems in Afghanistan. Initial Operating Capability (IOC) of the system was declared in June 2009 and the aircraft has already established itself as a force-multiplier in-theatre.
